THE CENTRE frequently takes a leadership role in the region by hosting forums and seminars on timely issues which are open to all organizations. Four Leadership Forums are planned for 2007-2009, including “Raising the quality of Public Dialogue” and “Changing Demographics and the New Dynamics at Work.”
The powerful new Literature Series will explore leadership through books, short stories and plays and will focus on “questions of character.” The Film Series will focus specifically on ethical dilemmas and how leaders face them and resolve them. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in scholarly discussions, interpretations and practical application. Special guest presenters will be invited throughout the series.
CENTRE customers are invited to select a few programs or attend them all! There are no pre-requisites. A detailed description of the series is available in THE CENTRE's 2008-09 Catalogue [PDF - 333KB].
Previous CENTRE series were held on 16 different topics such as… “Violence in the Workplace”, “Man/Woman Communication Style Differences”, and “The Learning Organization” satellite series featuring Peter Senge and Rick Ross, co-authors of The Fifth Discipline Field Book.
THE CENTRE has also hosted nine “Entrepreneurial Government Workshops” featuring author Ted Gaebler and state and local leaders who excelled in innovative, entrepreneurial leadership.
THE CENTRE “Images of Leadership Series” built on the Management Academy Curriculum by focusing on leadership style, charisma and vision, ethical decision-making, organizational politics, teams, organizational culture, strategy, negotiation and conflict resolution, change, diversity and entrepreneurship. Video clips from popular movies, case studies and articles from the Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal and Fortune Magazine served as the catalyst for small group discussions.
THE CENTRE “Protocol Series” provided a format to explore how to “walk, talk and dine” like an executive. The series covered business and dining etiquette, global etiquette, networking, and mastering the written and spoken word.
